This isn't an exercise in semantics. It's how we approach the design of space in our homes. We create what we call Life Zones. For example, if you're an accomplished chef, or aspire to be one, you want as much space to work as possible. For you, we create what is more a grotto than a kitchen, with larger sinks, quick access to pots and pans, and more counter area and storage space. Another example is our mudroom, a transition area between inside and out, with space to gather or shed coats, sports equipment, outdoor gear -- all the things that belong inside your home, but not too far inside.
